Babbling Brook Cotton Table Runner - Crochet Pattern - Free PDF Download

I had to wait until today to post this because I was giving this as a gift to my mother-in-law this year!

She had asked for a new table runner for her new dining room table, and she has a babbling brook in her backyard that the kids love to play in!


So, I created this pattern. I hope you enjoy it, and as always, please feel free to contact me with any questions!

Babbling Brook Cotton Table Runner
Skill Level - Beginner
Abbreviations
    ch(s) – chain(s)
    sc – single crochet
    hdc – half double crochet
    sp – space
    ea - each
    st(s) – stitch(es)
    sk - skip
    sl st – slip stitch
    FO – Fasten Off
Materials
  • Cotton 4ply yarn (the amount will depend on the desired length of the runner)
  • I crochet hook
Gauge
    Gauge is not important for the project
Finished Size
    The length will depend on how long you want to make it. The average table runner is 12 inches longer than the table to provide a little overhang.
    The width is approximately 9.5 inches wide.
Notes
  • Chain 2 does NOT count as first stitch
Instructions
Body

Ch 41

Row 1 – *hdc in 3 chs, (ch2, sk 3 chs)* repeat across to last 3 chs, hdc in last 3 chs, ch 1 – turn (40 sts)

Row 2 – sc in ea hdc and 3 sc in ea ch space across, ch 2 – turn (40 sts)

Row 3 – *hdc in 3 sc, (ch2, sk 3 hdc)* repeat across to last 3 sc, hdc in last 3 sc, ch 1 – turn (40 sts)

Row 4 – Until desired length – Repeat rows 2 and 3 alternately until you reach the desired length. Be sure to end with row 3
